Tasting profile

Structure: medium-bodied, medium tannin, high acidity, dry

Newton Johnson's Walker Bay Pinot Noir draws on the family's own Upper Hemel-en-Aarde vineyards together with fruit from the Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge and Bot River, then is aged about eleven months in barrels with very little new oak. A cool-climate, Burgundian-leaning Pinot: strawberry, red cherry and raspberry with a floral perfume and hints of spice and forest floor, fine tannin and fresh acidity. The estate's broad-based Pinot, below its Family Vineyards bottling, and approachable early.
