Moscato Giallo is a member of the Muscat family with distinctive yellow-gold berries, long grown in Trentino and Alto Adige where it is known as Goldmuskateller. The important thing about this style is that it is made DRY, which surprises most people, since the aroma is unmistakably Muscat — orange blossom, elderflower, grape musk and ripe apricot leap out of the glass and promise sweetness the palate does not deliver. Instead it finishes bone dry with a mineral, faintly bitter twist, and the brisk acidity of Alpine vineyards holds the whole thing in tension. Moser work from the Trentino hills near Trento.
