Tasting profile

Structure: medium-bodied, high acidity, dry

Domaine Rewa is Philippa Shepherd's small biodynamic vineyard in the Cromwell Basin, Central Otago, and its Chardonnay is one of the region's finest. It is made in a restrained, Burgundian style: barrel-fermented and aged about nine months in French oak, roughly a third new. Grapefruit, lemon and white peach sit over a struck-flint, oyster-shell minerality, with a light toasted-nut note from the oak. The cool, continental site keeps the acidity bright and the wine taut. It drinks well young and fills out over five to eight years in bottle.
