Tasting profile
Structure: medium-bodied, low tannin, high acidity, dry
Muschelkalck is a dry Riesling from Domaine Loew, the biodynamic Westhoffen estate run by Étienne and Caroline Loew in the northern Alsace. It comes from three plots planted between 1967 and 2007 on a stony, west-facing slope of shell limestone, hand-picked, fermented with native yeasts and kept on its lees until spring. Yellow plum, red apple, verbena and a hint of ginger sit over a taut, chalky core with bright acidity and a saline finish.
