Tasting profile

Structure: medium-bodied, medium tannin, high acidity, dry

Domaine Drouhin was founded in 1987 when the Beaune house bought land in the Dundee Hills, and Laurène is its flagship — a barrel selection named for Véronique Drouhin's daughter, assembled by tasting rather than by parcel. The Dundee Hills' red volcanic Jory soils give Pinot Noir a darker, more structured cast than the sedimentary sites nearby. Red and black cherry over forest floor, dried herbs and a fine savoury spice, medium-bodied with high acidity and elegant, firm tannin. Burgundian in intent, unmistakably Oregonian in fruit.
