Tasting profile

Structure: full-bodied, high tannin, medium acidity, dry

A mountain Merlot from Barnett Vineyards, high on Spring Mountain above St. Helena. It is mostly estate fruit with a little from York Creek, plus a touch of Cabernet Franc, and is aged about 22 months in French oak, roughly two-thirds of it new. Dense black cherry and plum with roasted coffee, toasted spice and a menthol and sage lift; firm mountain tannins give it structure well beyond typical valley-floor Merlot.
