Sestina is Avennia's Cabernet Sauvignon-led Bordeaux blend, with Merlot and Cabernet Franc, made by Chris Peterson from top Columbia Valley sites such as Dionysus, Red Willow and Bacchus. It is aged around 21 months in French oak, a good share new. Elegant rather than heavy: ripe blackcurrant and black cherry with tobacco, graphite, mocha, dark florals and a touch of sagebrush, on silky, fine tannins. Critics rate it among Washington's best Cabernet blends.
