Arinto

**Arinto** is a white grape from Portugal, most closely associated with the small Bucelas region near Lisbon, and prized above all for its firm, long-lasting acidity. **In the glass** — it shows lemon and green apple with mineral and sometimes waxy or honeyed notes, framed by crisp acidity and a fairly light, focused body. **Where it grows** — beyond its Bucelas home it is planted across much of central and southern Portugal, including the Vinho Verde area and the Alentejo, where it is often blended in to bring freshness and backbone to warmer-climate whites. **At the table** — pairs well with grilled fish, salt cod and seafood rice. **Cellaring** — usually enjoyable young, though its natural acidity lets good examples age gracefully for a decade or more, gaining honeyed, toasty complexity.
