A limited-release Rutherglen Durif, and the estate behind it has a reputation for making the variety at full volume rather than holding back. Inky and dense, with blackberry, dried plum and blueberry over espresso, dark chocolate, liquorice and black pepper, full-bodied with formidable tannin and a long, warming finish. Durif's thick skins give it colour and grip most varieties cannot reach. This is the emphatic end of Australian red wine — decant it, pour it with roasted meat, and give it years rather than months.
