A Reserva from Almansa, the high, arid DO where Castilla-La Mancha meets the Levante — built on Garnacha Tintorera (Alicante Bouschet), one of the very few varieties with red flesh as well as red skin, which is why these wines come out almost opaque. Deep blackberry and dark plum with cocoa, dried herb and a warm spiced finish, full-bodied with substantial ripe tannin, softened by the extended barrel ageing the Reserva tier requires. Sturdy, warm-climate Spanish red released ready to drink.
