Aragón

**Aragón** — A region in north-eastern Spain, inland from Catalonia, regarded as one of the great homes of the Garnacha grape. Its wines come from appellations such as Campo de Borja, Calatayud, Cariñena and Somontano. **Wines & grapes** — Old-vine Garnacha is the calling card, producing deep, warming reds, often blended with Tempranillo, Syrah or Cariñena. Somontano, in the Pyrenean foothills, also makes fresher reds and whites from international varieties. **Character** — A dry continental climate with hot days and cold nights over stony, poor soils yields concentrated, robust reds that offer excellent value for money.
