Trajadura

**Trajadura** is a white grape from northern Portugal, where it is one of the varieties behind Vinho Verde. Known as Treixadura across the border in Galicia, it is valued for adding body and gentle fruit to blends. **In the glass** — pale straw, with mild aromas of apple, pear and citrus and a soft floral touch. The palate is relatively low in acidity and rounder than many of its blending partners, lending weight and texture rather than sharpness. **Where it grows** — the Minho region of northwest Portugal is its home, where it is blended with the more aromatic Loureiro and Alvarinho in Vinho Verde. It is also important just over the border in Galicia's Ribeiro. **At the table** — pairs well with grilled fish, seafood and lighter salads. **Cellaring** — made to be drunk young and fresh, within a year or two of the vintage.
